Tier II Reporting

EPA’s Tier II Reporting

Tier II Reporting, mandated by EPA’s EPCRA, enhances workplace and community safety by disclosing hazardous chemical inventories. Facilities storing chemicals above threshold limits must submit annual reports by March 1, detailing prior-year storage. Extremely hazardous substances (EHS) face stricter thresholds. These reports inform SERCs, LEPCs, and fire departments, aiding emergency preparedness and transparency—ensuring safer chemical management and regulatory compliance.

Do I Need to Report?

Tier II Reports are required for facilities storing hazardous chemicals that exceed threshold quantities. Most chemicals trigger reporting at 10,000 pounds, but EPA-listed EHS substances have lower thresholds (500 pounds or their threshold planning quantity (TPQ)). Special rules apply to gasoline/diesel in compliant underground tanks. A chemical management system simplifies compliance with these EPCRA requirements by tracking inventories and thresholds accurately.

Tier II Reporting Solutions

Tier II Reporting is required nationwide for facilities storing SDS-covered chemicals above threshold quantities. Reports must detail each chemical’s hazards, quantities (maximum/average), storage duration, and location specifics. OSHEPRO’s ChERS® simplifies compliance by maintaining accurate chemical inventories, tracking EPA-listed EHS, and managing updated SDS records—ensuring seamless, audit-ready Tier II submissions.
